Flower and plant extracts are created by exposing plant matter to a solvent like alcohol or boiling water which releases various biochemical compounds and scents from the vegetation. Extracts typically contain bio-active ingredients which are taken internally or externally to address a physical health issue.

Flower extracts are made by steeping flowers (and other natural items like gemstones) in spring water in direct sunlight. Flower essence practitioners believe the spring water absorbs the flower's subtle energetic vibrations. Biochemical compounds are often used to produce plant extracts. as would be the case with an extract. Flower essences are used to promote emotional balance and wellbeing.

A placebo is a dummy treatment against which real treatments are tested in clinical experiments. For example, in a clinical study, one group of volunteers gets the new drug. A second group gets a sugar pill that looks exactly like the new drug. A third group gets no treatment at all.  What’s shocking about placebos is how often they out-perform real drugs in randomized studies! Even if the pill isn’t real, the placebo effect is, because the patient believes the pill is real. The belief and expectation—and the rituals and symbols surrounding medical care—are enough to make the subject’s brain to release hormones, neurotransmitters, and other chemicals that affect both the brain and the body. The placebo effect can block pain and enhance the immune system. Placebos can even improve the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, irritable bowel syndrome, and depression.
